Kathmandu: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, who was in Nepal for the 4th BIMSTEC summit, has visited the Aanadakuti Bihar in Swayambhu on Sunday.
The President also took a view of the Buddha's relics at the Bihar. On the occasion, the President also inspected the Bihar as it was under renovation with the financial support of Sri Lanka.
Sanghanayak Bhikshu Mahasthabir, patron at the Bihar Bhikshu Maitri Mahasthabir and All Nepal Bhikshu Federation General secretary Kaudanya Mahasthabir among others briefed the President Sirisena about the activities of the Bihar.
On the occasion, a replica of the Lord Buddha was handed over to the President and the President had also provided an artistic silver urn to the Bihar.
The Sri-Lankan President had visited various Buddhist religious sites in Nepal to the liking of Buddhist followers in and outside the country.
The visit by a Head of the State of a Buddhist majority country is also expected to help promote religious tourism in the country. RSS
