Kathmandu: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' has assured to form a high-level probe committee to spell out truth behind the gruesome murder of Nirmala Pant after rape.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by the lawmakers and representatives of the Province-7 today, Home Minister Thapa expressed seriousness on the murder incident on part of the government.
Thapa also assured the delegation that the ministry would come up with proper decision regarding the incident soon. Among the demands featured in the memorandum include formation of a high-level commission on the murder, bringing into book the guilty after finding truth, granting compensation to victim family, treatment to those injured in the incident, ending police crackdown on peaceful protest and disclosure of Home Ministry's official stance on Kanchanpur incident.
Present on the occasion were Lekhraj Bhatta, Neeru Devi Pal, Deepak Prasad Bhatta and Nar Bahadur Dhami. Meanwhile, taking part in zero hour of today's meeting of the Province-Assembly of Province -7 today, most of the lawmakers have drawn attention of the government and assembly towards the emergence of serious situation stemming from the protests after the murder of a girl in Kanchanpur.
The lawmakers have demanded the formation of a parliamentary probe team, legal action against the criminal and maintaining law and order and social harmony.
Among the lawmakers articulating their concerns were Purna Joshi, Bal Bahadur Sodari, Bharat Bahadur Khadka, Malamati Kumari Ranatharu, Leeladhar Bhatta, Shanti Nepali and Harka Bahadur Kunwar. RSS
